Football season is in full swing!  Whether you spend the season in front of the TV or at a stadium, it's time for team spirit and tailgating.  Here are a few safety tips on having a safe and fun experience with your fellow fans:

1. Dress for the weather, not the TV cameras.  Be prepared for whatever is in the forecast.  Keep extra sunscreen and blankets in your car.  Wear layers that shed easily since cheering may warm you up.

2.  Keep your valuables safe.  Stow your purse, wallets and cell phones where they won't attract attention and lock your vehicle.  If you're going to a stadium, check the stadium's website prior to the game to see what the requirements are for the size and types of bags allowed.

3.  Be courteous and patient in the parking lot.  Allow for time to find a parking spot and time to sit in line to leave.  Always park near a light post if possible.

4. Don't drink too much.  If you plan to drink at all, please designate a driver before the tailgating festivities begin.  Know your limit and stick to it.  Maybe even spend the last quarter of the game drinking water.  And don't forget to thank your designated driver by buying him or her a few snacks at the game.
